What is Maskne??

Have you been wondering why you're seeing breakouts around your mouth all of a sudden?

Well it definitely could be “𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗞𝗡𝗘” (Acne caused by masks)!

At the beginning of the initial quarantine we had to deal with stress related breakouts, now we are dealing with mask related breakouts. - the struggle IS REAL and never ending😒... at least it seems.

Here are a few skincare tips that will help:

Avoid wearing heavy makeup (like foundation) underneath the mask as it may have the potential to lead to spots/acne. Focus on playing up the eyes!

Take a probiotic. Probiotics really help to change the balance of bacteria in and on your skin. Bacteria drive the balance of your body, good and bad. However, that warm, damp environment under your mask is a breeding ground for colonization that can get trapped in the pores, leading to inflammation and acne. So, giving a boost to those good guys can go a long way!

Don’t forget to wash your mask after every use. Yes, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 but also to remove any acne-causing bacteria and oils from the mask. Use hot water, laundry detergent, and white vinegar, which has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Be sure to look for a laundry detergent that is fragrance-free as leftover fragrance residue could also irritate skin.

In caring for your 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗞𝗡𝗘, I would suggest using milder products that don't dry out the skin. Strengthen your skins natural barrier which prevents bacteria from forming acne on your skin.

Be sure to keep your skin hydrated inside & out to assist in quicker healing time. Up your water intake along with adding a hydrating serum or gel consisting of Hyaluronic acid and Pantothenic acid(B5) in your daily morning and nightly regimen.

Hang in there, this too shall pass.🖤
